About Sun Bum
In 2010 we started making products to protect our friends and families from the sun. Since then we’ve grown and gotten a lot bigger but we haven’t changed.
Our Cocoa Beach office is an old Florida beach house off A1A. Our Moonlight Beach office is in the groovy little town of Encinitas California. We play way too much ping pong during work hours. Our refrigerator is full of coconut water and alcohol. We listen to old albums. We take surf breaks. We bring our dogs and kids to work. We want our lives to matter. We make products the way we like them and we hope you like them too. Trust The Bum.
Here Are Some Facts
|
|
|
|
---|---|---|---|
Broad SpectrumBroad spectrum sunscreen protects your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Our Clear Zinc product adds a protective barrier between your face and the sun. Slather your beak and watch it disappear. |
SPF RatingNo sunscreen blocks of UV rays, however, higher SPF helps if you are fair skinned or have a history of skin cancer. Sun Bum’s Clear Zinc blocks maximum of UVB rays which can cause sunburn and contribute to skin cancer. |
Reef FriendlyAn American study came out showing that an active ingredient commonly used in sunscreen named Oxybenzone may be a factor to the bleaching and killing of our ocean reefs. While the study is highly contested by the corporate sunscreen community, there is no way we would take the chance of hurting the very living and breathing thing that creates the waves we surf on every day or our little fishy friends. |
AccreditationsSun Bum follows the recommendations and guidelines set by the Skin Cancer Foundation (SCF), and the American Cancer Society. Sun Bum Clear Zinc Sunscreen has been stringently tested, approved, and recommended by the SCF. |
Apply Sunscreen
Apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before going out in the sun to allow for maximum absorption and protection. Keep in mind SPF ratings are significantly decreased if you don’t apply enough. Think 3 spoonful’s of sunscreen that should do it. Unless you are our 15 foot Sonny, then you might need a little more.
Extra Protection
For added protection use a Zinc Oxide Formula, Face Stick or Face Lotion for a protective barrier between your face and the sun. We like products that are convenient and easy to apply, our products work hard, you shouldn’t have to.
Reapply Sunscreen
Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours and apply more frequently after swimming, sweating or toweling. Don’t neglect hard to reach and easily forgotten places like your ears, feet and upper back. Grab a friend to help spread the love.
After Sun Care
After a long lazy day in the sun, your skin needs revitalization and hydration. We have a Cool Down Lotion we think feels amazing and works amazing. We can tell you about the Aloe and Vitamin E, but it just feels great, and we think you’ll love it.

I found this first at Mountain equipment coop, MEC, but they’re closed now, due to lockdowns, so when I needed to get it again, I was glad to find it on Amazon. I have sensitive skin and I have had no problems. I used the whole jar, which is rare for me. I get sick of products and am sensitive to some scents. The scent is fairly strong, but I like it…kind of pineapple coconut. I feel like I’m going to the beach. I use this every day. It’s thick, but not sticky and absorbs well on your skin. I think it provides good sun protection. It’s UV 50+. I’ve been using it through the winter.
