Aishwarya Mohanraj’s 22kg weight loss transformation
The 31-year-old revealed in a YouTube video that she has been taking weekly injections of Eli Lilly’s Mounjaro since August last year. The medication contains tirzepatide and belongs to a new generation of drugs that are changing the way obesity is treated.
She shared that she had always been slim while growing up and said being thin was never a concern because, in her words, “the world is built for skinny girls.” At the beginning of 2021, she weighed 51 kg. However, in her late 20s, things began to change. Around the time of her relationship and marriage, she started gaining weight. By her wedding, she weighed 64 kg, and within six months, her weight had increased to around 72–74 kg.
Aishwarya clarified that the weight gain was not due to poor lifestyle choices. She explained that she has polycystic ovary disorder (PCOD) and hypothyroidism, both of which run in her family and contributed to the change in her weight. She had been on medications, including birth control pills and later metformin, as her PCOD was linked to insulin resistance.
She was later diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, which forced her to stop working out. Still determined to lose weight and get her jawline back, she eventually turned to Mounjaro.
Speaking about Mounjaro, she said she took the injection once a week for six months. During that time, her weight dropped from 74 kg to 52 kg. Describing the transformation, she called it “rapid” and said it felt “mad and insane.”
Soha Ali Khan reacts to Aishwarya Mohanraj’s transformation
After revealing her weight loss transformation, Aishwarya Mohanraj faced backlash from the netizens, but others also came out in support. The latest person to join the list is Soha Ali Khan. On February 11, the actress took to Instagram to appreciate Aishwarya for honestly opening up about her weight loss journey. She said it was refreshing to see someone admit that the transformation wasn’t just because of clean eating or exercise, but also due to Mounjaro. According to Soha, it takes real courage to speak so openly about it.
She also pointed out an important part of Aishwarya’s message, where she urged people not to rely on influencers for advice about such medications and instead consult qualified doctors before making any decisions. Soha stressed that drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro are not passing weight-loss trends. She said they are serious medical treatments meant only for specific individuals under proper guidance.
She acknowledged that losing weight isn’t always about willpower. Many factors can affect it, including hormones, insulin resistance, PCOS, thyroid issues and overall metabolism. While injections can support weight loss, Soha reminded followers that they come with possible side effects and require medical tests and supervision. Instead of focusing on who is taking these drugs, she suggested people should ask whether they genuinely need them.
She also shared that her upcoming podcast episode of All About Her, releasing on Friday, February 13, will feature leading endocrinologist Dr Ambrish Mithal and nutritionist Dr Juhi Agarwal. Together, they will discuss the science behind these medications, along with the risks and common misconceptions surrounding them. Stay tuned!
