When it comes to fitness and exercise equipment, trends come and go.

However, some machines manage to stand the test of time and maintain their popularity, becoming staples in gyms and home setups around the world.

One such machine that has captured the hearts (and legs) of fitness enthusiasts is the StairMaster Gauntlet. Its popularity isn’t just a fleeting fad: it’s rooted in a combination of effective workouts, versatility, and the enduring desire for a challenging and efficient fitness routine.

At Home Fitness superstores in Arizona have seen an increase in the number of people purchasing these incredible machines.

“For the longest time, StairMaster has been the pinnacle for the stepmill machines,” said Brian Ikegami, a longtime At Home Fitness-Scottsdale sales associate, who also loves working out on the StairMaster Gauntlet machine. “It’s kind of the hardest machine to use in most gyms.

“You set the speed and then you’ve got to keep up to it. It’s a lot more intense than a treadmill, but is actually lower impact.”

If you’ve been a member of a public gym that has a StairMaster machine, chances are it’s usually being used by someone. And, that ‘someone’ is super fit.

“Once someone gets into super shape at the gym and then they decide they want to work out at home, if they’re a Stairmaster guy then there’s nothing else out there that’s going to satisfy them,” Ikegami said. “Once you reach that pinnacle of fitness in the public gym, if you want it in the home you’ve got to go with that same machine.

“Everything else is a downgrade from what you’ve been doing and they just pretty much make commercial grade Stairmasters. There’s other brands out there, but in my experience every time they try to make a home version they just flop. They are shorter with less steps and just miss the sweet spot of those commercial machines. The Stairmaster is pretty invincible as far as any work needing to be done on them.”

The price tag is steep for the StairMaster Gauntlet 10G, 8G and 4G models, but well worth it to serious fitness enthusiasts who love getting good, long workouts on the machines.

The StairMaster Gauntlet machine, often dubbed the “escalator to nowhere,” simulates the action of climbing stairs or steps. This might sound like a simple concept, but its effectiveness cannot be overstated.

Stair climbing is a natural, functional movement that engages multiple muscle groups in the lower body, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, and glutes. This full lower-body engagement makes the StairMaster Gauntlet a powerhouse for burning calories and building strength, making it an ideal choice for those looking to improve cardiovascular fitness and lower body tone.
